September 28th is Plant a Tree Day. This is a global day of action that has inspired thousands of volunteers around the world to plant trees, remove invasive species, clean up litter, establish community gardens and more!
Plant a Tree Day history
This day was started in 2018 by the organization One Tree Planted. That year, 30 community reforestation events were organized by One Tree Planted. In their first year:
- 600 volunteers came together all over the globe
- 7,000 trees and shrubs were planted
As of today, Plant a Tree Day has grown into a global movement that brings all of us together to make a positive environmental impact.
Changing the world, one tree at a time
There are so many places you can be involved with Plant a Tree Day.
- City parks
- Underserved neighborhoods
- Your business location
- Your home
- Low forest areas
- And, many more!
At Mockingbird Tree Care, we love inspiring people to come together to care for trees and plants. You, too can improve your home, business, neighborhood and community by getting involved with Plant a Tree Day.
If you’d like to learn more, you can go to onetreeplanted.org. Or, you can just call us and we’ll help you care for the trees you have. While we’re there, we’d be happy to answer any questions you have about planting trees of your own.
Why Plant a Tree Day?
Fall is a great time to plant a tree – For some trees, it is actually better than Spring.
Planting a tree is a great experience – Its not just for ‘activists’… it’s a great experience for everyone, especially families and kids! I mean, how many kids wouldn’t enjoy their hands in the dirt?
One Tree Planted wanted to make a difference – They we wanted to take action and raise awareness for trees during a special time of year.
You don’t have to be part of some committee or even volunteer in your community at an event. (Of course, we’d welcome you to.)
- Go buy a tree and plant it in your yard
- Ask some parents to donate money to buy a few trees for your children’s school property
- Give a tree to someone who could use it
- Ask at your local Parks & Recreation about doing a Plant a Tree Day event
There are so many easy ways to make a difference and most would not require a lot of money or time.
If you’d like to have a professional Arborist care for your trees, please don’t hesitate to call us.
Hopefully, we’ll see you out and about planting a tree on September 29th, 2022.
